About This Training

For many EMDR clinicians, the hardest part of the work is not understanding the protocol—it is learning to trust themselves within it.

Even highly trained therapists can find themselves:

  • second-guessing treatment plans
  • feeling rushed during reprocessing
  • overthinking interventions
  • fearing they are “doing it wrong”
  • avoiding complexity
  • becoming dysregulated when clients become overwhelmed, shut down, or stuck

This advanced experiential training explores how therapist parts influence EMDR treatment planning, pacing, attunement, and clinical decision-making.

Using an IFS-informed lens, participants will identify and work with the internal parts of themselves that show up in EMDR work—especially the parts that feel uncertain, pressured, perfectionistic, avoidant, or over-responsible.

The goal is not perfection.
The goal is increased Self energy, clinical presence, and confidence.

Who This Training Is For

This training is designed for:

  • EMDR-trained clinicians
  • Consultants and consultants-in-training
  • Therapists working with complex trauma or dissociation
  • Clinicians who feel “technically competent” but internally uncertain
  • Therapists wanting deeper confidence, clarity, and attunement in EMDR sessions

This course is especially helpful for clinicians who find themselves:

  • rushing toward reprocessing
  • struggling with treatment planning
  • fearing client destabilization
  • feeling overwhelmed by complexity
  • questioning their competence after difficult sessions
  • carrying perfectionistic or highly responsible therapist parts

Important Note

This training is:

  • IFS-informed
  • experiential
  • focused on therapist self-awareness in EMDR practice

This course is not an official Internal Family Systems (IFS) certification training and does not train participants to practice IFS therapy independently.

What Makes This Training Different

Most EMDR trainings focus on:

  • protocols
  • interventions
  • target sequencing
  • adaptations

This training focuses on the internal system of the clinician during the 8 phases of EMDR

Because sometimes the barrier is not:

“What protocol do I use?”

It is:

“What happens inside me when I don’t know what to do?”

Participants will learn how therapist parts can unconsciously influence:

  • pacing
  • readiness assessment
  • target selection
  • interweaves
  • avoidance of material
  • over-directiveness
  • over-processing
  • session structure
  • clinical confidence

Through guided experiential work, reflection, and case application, clinicians will learn to access greater Self energy in the therapy room—allowing for calmer, clearer, and more attuned EMDR work.
